I met my hero.

Last night I met my inspiration and idol Mick Foley. He was the nicest person I have ever met, and while I was walking up to hug him for the first time, my hands and legs were shaking violently and my heart was beating so much it was causing an ache in my chest. I held onto him for as long as I could, savouring the moment, I wanted it in my memory forever.

“That was quite a prolonged hug, I feel you needed that” He commented, and to my surprise offered another, as he liked to call, cuddle. We then posed for a proper picture with my stupid face.

(I had no idea all the hug photos were being taken, and when I checked in school today I almost cried.)

I explained to him that he already knew me from Twitter, then told him my name. I was overcome with joy when he recognised me. He then proceeded to tell his support act, who was also taking the photos, about my immediate response to a question on “Foley Trivia” a week prior.

“I asked the question and Fay responded just like… that” He snapped fingers and my heart skipped when he said my name. He asked me how I knew and I said because of his book which he then went onto sign with a “Nice to meet you”

Mick then took a spare picture (which usually cost £5) and signed it for me, which was one of the kindest things anyone has done for me.

“Thank you so much” I managed to say. I hesitantly said goodbye, and then almost limped myself away where I had to lay down for a while.

If you’re told to never meet your heroes, then pick your heroes better.

I love you so much Mick. Thank you for everything. I will forever owe you for all you have done to help change and better my life. You have made me the happiest I have ever been, happier than I thought was possible.

Mick Foley: Amazingly dedicated wrestler. Hall of famer. Comedic genius. Great hugger. My hero.
